Our Founder
Elaine Hooley has worked in the industry for over 30 years and, by all accounts, her “passion for fashion” is infectious. The journey began with a degree in Fashion and Textiles from Liverpool School of Art and continued with an MA from the original Saint Martin’s School of Art where she was taught, trained and mentored by the legendary Louise Wilson.
After graduating, Elaine moved to Italy to work for Alberta Ferretti. On returning to the UK, she used her design skills and brand vision to help revamp Topshop and several other high street names that went on to become the iconic fashion labels they are now.
Specialising in trend forecasting and product development, she prides herself on being forward thinking while still offering immediate, wearable solutions.
After working as Head of Design for several fashion brands, Elaine set up Elaine Hooley Design in 1996, went into partnership with Hale Textile and created a design studio in Soho which thrived for 22 years. Elaine became well known around the Soho fashion scene while her company built up a reputation for having a team of designers capable of delivering commercial results for dozens of clients. This partnership allowed Hale Textile to establish themselves in the UK, extend their product offer and greatly increase their turnover.
Elaine’s love of fashion and Soho is as strong as ever and, along with her open minded, fun loving approach to all manner of projects, is the inspiration behind the new design space and brand, Studio Soho.
